Bus and network modules UNI-TELWAY bus Characteristics References : pages 42702/6 and 42702/7 Characteristics Structure Nature Heterogeneous industrial bus Physical interface RS 485 Access method Master-Slave Transmission Mode Asynchronous transmission in baseband Data rate 9.6 K bits/s, which can be configured on certain devices for 1.2 to 19.2 K bits/s Medium Screened double twisted pair Configuration Number of devices 28 devices maximum (1) 255 datalink addresses (one device can occupy several addresses) (2) Length of bus 1000 m maximum excluding tap links Tap links 20 m maximum Services UNI-TE Maximum message size TSX/PMX model 40 TSX 17-20 TSX 47-20/25 TSX Nano TSX Micro/Premium Terminal port PCMCIA card Terminal port 128 bytes 32 bytes 32 bytes 128 bytes 240 bytes 128 bytes Point-to-point requests with confirmation (question/response) initiated by any connected device Unsolicited point-to-point data, without confirmation, initiated by any connected device Broadcast messages initiated by the master device Other functions Transparent communication, via the master, with any device in an X-WAY architecture Diagnostics, debugging, adjustment and programming of PLCs Security Check character on each frame, acknowledgement and repetition of messages, if required, ensures transmission security Monitoring Bus status table, transmission error counters and device status can be accessed by program in each device Bus status and devices connected from the master PLC (except for TSX Nano) can be accessed from SYSDIAG software on an FTX 417/517 terminal or PC compatible (1) 3 devices maximum with TSX Nano/Master PLC. (2) 5 datalink addresses with TSX Nano/Master PLC. Note : Some devices have application, network and datalink layers which are compatible with the UNI-TELWAY communication architecture, but do not have a standard physical interface (limited data rate, remote power supply, etc). Performance The UNI-TELWAY bus cycle time depends on the : BCT (ms) i Number of devices polled (datalink addresses) 400 i Data rate 1 i Turnaround time of each device i Number, length and type of message 300 2 BCT = Bus Cycle Time, is the interval time between two 200 polls to the same device. 100 1 = 9.6 K bits/s 2 = 19.2 K bits/s 1 4 8 12162024 27 The above curve gives the UNI-TELWAY cycle time as a function of the number of slaves at 9.6 K bits/s or 19.2 K bits/s, with a typical turnaround time of 5 ms per device (excluding messages). 42702/2 Te Bus and network modules UNI-TELWAY bus Characteristics, devices which can be connected References : pages 42702/6 and 42702/7 The following table shows the time to be added (in ms) to obtain the true BCT value as a function of the traffic (N = Number of usable characters) : Time (ms) Exchanges 9.6 K bits/s 19.2 K bits/s Master to slave 24 + 1.2 N (1) 17 + 0.6 N (1) Slave to master 19 + 1.2 N (1) 12 + 0.6 N (1) Slave to slave 44 + 2.3 N (1) 29 + 1.15 N (1) (1) N = Number of usable characters corresponding to the messages to be exchanged. In a distributed control system architecture, the application-to-application response time not only depends on the communication system, but also on : i The processing times of the message source and destination devices i The degree of asynchronism between the bus and processor cycle times This response time must be evaluated by the designer of each application according to the devices which are Event Confirmation connected. The processing time of a device may vary from one to two Device 1 CT1 TC1 CT1 CT1 cycle times depending on the degree of asynchronism. UNI-TELWAY bus BCT BCT BCT = UNI-TELWAY bus cycle time. Device 2 CT2 CT2 CT1 = Device 1 bus cycle time. Action CT2 = Device 2 bus cycle time. Devices which can be connected TSX/PMX model 40 PLCs TSX/PMX PLCs can be connected to the UNI-TELWAY bus master or slave in a number of ways : 1 Via integral link The UNI-TELWAY bus and PLC processor are linked by connecting a TSX CSD 100/200 cable to a TSX LES 64/74 cable connector. The cable is connected to the bus via a TSX SCA 50 T-junction box. 2 Via TSX SCM 21i6 module These modules have a UNI-TELWAY interface on channel 1. Channel 0 has the following interface, depending on the 1 2 version : i RS 232 C for the TSX SCM 2116 module i Current loop for the TSX SCM 2126 module i RS 485 C for the TSX SCM 2146 module The module is connected to the UNI-TELWAY bus using a TSX SCA 62 subscriber socket and a TSX CSB 015 cable. When it is connected in this way, the processor (or module) operates without having to be sent a configuration, and regardless of the status of the PLC (RUN-STOP). TSX 7 modular PLCs, Master or Slave, can be both Server and Client at the same time : i Server, the PLC is server for its system functions. i Client, the PLC is client for its application program. 42702/3 Te Bus and network modules UNI-TELWAY bus Devices which can be connected (continued) Characteristics : page 42702/2 References : pages 42702/6 and 42702/7 TSX 17-20 micro-PLCs TSX 17-20 PLCs can be connected to the UNI-TELWAY bus in one of two ways: 1 Via the TSX SCG 1161i master or slave module 2 Via the TSX 17 ACC 5i slave adaptor Connection to the UNI-TELWAY bus is via : - the TSX SCA 62 subscriber socket and TSX CSC 015cable - bus cable connection on the TSX 17 ACC 5i adaptor screw terminal block See page 41104/4 for a description of the modules. 1 2 TSX Micro and TSX Premium PLCs TSX Micro and TSX Premium PLCs can be connected to the UNI-TELWAY bus in one of three ways : 1 Via integral processor port 1 1 2 The AUX port (8-way mini-DIN type) has a non-isolated RS 485 serial link channel (maximum distance 10 m). The maximum distance can be increased to 1000 m using TSX P ACC 01 T-junction box. 2 Via integral TSX SCY 21600 module port This module for the TSX Premium PLC has a multiprotocol (including UNI-TELWAY) Half-duplex isolated RS 485 serial link channel. 3 Via TSX SCP 114 PCMCIA card A slot on the processor and on the TSX SCY 21600 TSX Micro TSX Premium module receives among others the multiprotocol (including UNI-TELWAY) isolated RS 485/RS 422 PCMCIA card. 3 TSX Nano PLCs See page 40050/6. Frequently asked questions

What makes Elite.Parts unique?

chervon down
At GID Industrial (Elite.Parts' parent company), we specialize in procuring industrial parts. We know where to find the rare and obsolete equipment that our customers need in order to get back to business. There are other companies who claim to do what we do, but we're confident that our commitment to quality and value is unparalleled in our field.

What kind of warranty will the TSXSCM2116 have?

chervon down
Warranties differ by part and by which suppliers we use to procure it for you. Sometimes, a part will be sold as-is and without a warranty. Our specialty, single board computers, tend to receive a one-year warranty.

Which carriers does Elite.Parts work with?

chervon down
Elite.Parts can ship via FedEx, UPS, DHL, and USPS. We have accounts with each of them and generally ship using one of those, but we can also ship using your account if you would prefer. However, we can use other carriers if it will be more convenient for you.

Will Elite.Parts sell to me even though I live outside the USA?

chervon down
Absolutely! We are happy to serve customers regardless of location. We work with international clients all the time, and we are familiar with shipping to destinations all across the globe.

I have a preferred payment method. Will Elite.Parts accept it?

chervon down
All major credit cards are accepted: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. We will also accept payment made with wire transfer or PayPal. Checks will only be accepted from customers in the USA. Terms may available for larger orders, upon approval.
