COOL-RoadRunner-II QUICK-REFERENCE, Rev. 1.8, PCB Rev. 2.0 Remark: This Quick-Reference gives only an overview about the COOL-RoadRunner-II board and is no replacement for the user manual. Description The COOL RoadRunner-II is an all in one CPU board with an integrated VGA-Controller for CRT and LCD (optional), 10Base-T/100Base-T Fast Ethernet controller (optional), Panel Link Interface (optional), Sound (optional) and TV-OUT (optional). It is conforming to PC/104-Plus bus specification. Memory is expandable up to 128MByte using a standard 3.3V SO-SDRAM (144p.). The 64 Bit 6X86 Pentium class CPU is available with different frequencies from 166 MHz, 200 MHz, 233 MHz and 300 MHz. A bootable CompactFlashDisk can be mounted for applications without hard disk. Ethernet: The on-board Fast Ethernet controller INTEL82559ER provides 32-bit performance, PCI bus master capability and full compliance with IEEE 802.3 10Base-T/100Base-T specifications. Drivers for almost all standard operating systems are available (ask for detailed information). VGA-Controller: The VGA controller INTEL 69000 has 2 Mbytes of memory. It supports different kinds of panels (STN, DTSN, TFT). The panels are connected with the LCD-connector or via the optional PanelLink interface. The BIOS supports 16 display types (44KByte VGA Bios). The display is selected via the BIOS or the display-type pins PS0 to PS3 on the LCD-connector by connecting them to GND. Drivers for almost all standard operating systems are available (ask for detailed information). The power supply of the display can be switched from the module using the signals VDD-SRC (source display power) and SW-VDD (switched VDD, max 5V / 1A). The power supply of the backlight can be switched from the module using the signals VBKL-SRC (source backlight power) and SW-VBKL (switched VBKL, max. 12 V / 1 A). The 3.3 V signal on the connectors must be not used to supply external electronic devices with high power consumption like displays. CompactFlash Disk: The CompactFlash Disk is a complete IDE compatible solid-state disk, which is available with capacities of 4 to 300 MB or up to 1GB as IBM MicroDrive. It is mounted directly on the board and can be accessed like normal plug-and-play IDE hard disk drive. The CompactFlash Disk has low power consumption and is insensitive to heavy mechanical use, especially shock and temperature. The CompactFlash Disk is connected to the primary EIDE port as master. If an EIDE device is used together with a CompactFlashCard the EIDE device must be a slave device. Super I/O-Controller SMSC37B727: The Super I/O-controller incorporates a keyboard controller (KBC), a Real Time Clock (RTC), a floppy disk controller (FDC), two full featured UARTs with integrated 16 Byte FIFO, an IEEE 1284 compatible parallel port and the watchdog function. The registers for the watchdog functions are accessed through the I/O ports 370 Hex (index register) and 371 (data register). Hex Short Time Watchdog: The short time watchdog is enabled via the GP12 pin of the Super-I/O controller by executing the following I/O commands (all values in hex): out 370,55 / out 370,07 / out 371,08 / out 370,E3 / out 371,08 / out 370,F4 / out 371,02 / out 370,E2 / out 371,00 / out 370,AA The short time watchdog has to be triggered every 400ms. To trigger the watchdog the following I/O commands must be written: out 370,55 / out 370,07 / out 371,08 / out 370,E2 / out 371,02 / out 370,E2 / out 371,00 / out 370,AA The GP11 pin of the Super-I/O controller reflects the status of the watchdog. A low level at bit 1 (XXXXXX0X ) of b the index register F6 means that a watchdog time-out has occurred. The level of the pin can be read by the following commands: out 370,55 / out 370,07 / out 371,08 / out 370,F6 / in 371 / out 370,AA Long-Time Watchdog: Page 1 of 1 LiPPERT Automationstechnik GmbH • Hans-Thoma-Str.11 • 68163 Mannheim • Tel: 0621/43214-0 • Fax: 0621/43214-30 Document SDE-104P-CRR2-R1V8.DOC, Rev. 1.8; created 2001-08-20 This document is subject to change without notice QUICK-REFERENCE COOL-RoadRunner-II The long-time watchdog can be set for 1 up to 255 minutes or seconds. It can be triggered by a PS/2 mouse- interrupt, a keyboard-interrupt or an I/O access to port 201H. At time-out the watchdog can generate either an interrupt or a hardware reset. The programming of the long-time watchdog is explained in the technical manual, which is available on request. IrDA-Interface: The integrated IrDA-Interface supports IrDA 1.0 and ASK-IR on the pins IR-Tx and IR-Rx of the general-purpose connector. For proper function an external IrDA Transceiver has to be used. USB-Controller: The USB controller supports two USB ports on the USB connector. Sound-Controller (optional): The sound controller is Soundblaster16-compatible under MS-DOS. Driver for Windows 95/98 are available on request. Only LINE-IN (left and right), LINE-OUT (left and right) and MIC-IN are supported on the USB/Sound connector. PanelLink (optional): With the integrated PanelLink Transmitter SIL140 a Display can be used up to 15 meters away from the board. TV-OUT (optional): With the TV-OUT option the VGA signals are converted to a BAS-signal (COMP) or S-VHS signal (CRMA and LUMA). A special VGA BIOS is needed for proper operation depending on PAL or NTSC timing. A CRT monitor who tolerates this timing can be used simultaneously. Video Input Port (optional) The CT69000 has a digital video input port that may be used for overlaying a picture on the screen. The data of the video input port is directly transfered to the video output and is therefore not accessable by other application programs. The video input port can not be used as a framegrabber device. The signals of the video input port are located on the video input port connector. Because the signals on this connector are routed directly to the pins of the CT69000 the user may have to build his own hardware around to connect a video device like a camera. The video input port is located on the bottom side marked as VIDEO CON in the drawing. The video input port is not available on all board models. GO TO SOURCE
When I can't find an obsolete part, I first call GID and they'll come up with my parts every time. Great customer service and follow up as well. Scott emails me from time to time to touch base and see if we're having trouble finding something.....which is often with our 25 yr old equipment.
