It is powered by an AMD Geode™ GX 500@1.0W processor More Features running at 366 MHz. This processor is teamed with the CS5535 I/O companion chip that has many standard peripherals already integrated. Together with a Super-I/O chip, General purpose I/O the Cool FrontRunner effectively resembles a complete PC system. AC97 compatible sound The Cool FrontRunner allows the use of either VGA monitors or digital TFT displays GoldCap for backup (either with 18 bit parallel or 24 bit LVDS), selectable via jumper or BIOS settings. The Cool FrontRunner sports all standard PC peripherals: There are 4 USB 1.1 ports, Flash BIOS IDE, PS/2 keyboard, mouse and LPT. Three serial ports are integrated on-board, two of them can be configured by software to conform to either the RS232 or RS485 standard, the third is RS485-only. The built-in real time clock is buffered with an integrated GoldCap. There are eight freely usable I/O pins for application defined signals available on a flat cable connector. A Fast Ethernet (100BaseT) controller is provided for networking. There is an AC-97 codec onboard for sound I/O, too. The Cool FrontRunner offers a wide range of supported storage devices. The ATA-66 compliant EIDE interface allows connecting standard hard disks, CD/DVD drives or other devices, like CompactFlash™ adapters. A DIL32 DiskOnChip socket is also integrated. The Cool FrontRunner is equipped with 256 MByte of on-board RAM; the chips are soldered to the circuit board, offering enhanced mechanical stability. Troubleshooting is made easy with supervision LEDs for power, watchdog, Ethernet and application-defined life signalization on the module. The PC/104 and the PC/104-Plus bus allow system expansion with many commercially available peripheral I/O boards.
