It implements a 1394b PHY layer and can operate at 100, 200 or 400 Mbps. It provides up to three fully independent nodes, each node having three full- duplex ports associated with it, and has a universal PCI Express interface that is compatible with any PCI Express slot. The EXC-1394PCIe supports Direct Memory Access (DMA), which enables the board to access system memory for reading and writing independently of the computer’s CPU. This results in faster data transfer to and from the board, with much less CPU overhead than when not using DMA.
