Business AuroraTango Gigabit Ethernet The convergence of Core, Metro and Access networks is driving the migration from packet and circuit networks to Ethernet. Aurora Tango Gigabit Ethernet has a comprehensive set of functions to verify that Ethernet installations can provide a level of Quality of Service similar to technologies such as ATM, Frame Relay or T1/E1. Installing and maintaining links and end-to-end services based on Gigabit Ethernet is now easy with Aurora Tango, which combines high performance and the most advanced design, in a light and user-friendly test set. RFC 2544 conformance Full 10, 100, 1000 Mbit/s support VoIP Comprehensive traffic generator Residential Internet Terminate, Through and Monitoring Small Business Router IP PBX 1000 BaseT operation modes PDA as the user interface Gigabit Ethernet commissioning Access Switch / Router Service Level Agreement (SLA) MUX NGN / SDH verification Metro Gigabit 1000 BaseT Class of Service (CoS) setup Hub Tera Router Modules for ADSL, SHDSL and Euro ISDN 10 / 100 Ethernet Multi-service Campus Network VLAN One button PASS/FAIL test SDH Node Physical, MAC & IP verification Testing points Access and Metropolitan use Emulation mode Enterprise Gigabit Ethernet LAN Service Deployment and SLA Verification PDA User The Ethernet Challenge Interface The emergence of Ethernet in Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs) is leading the migration from circuit-oriented to packet-oriented data networks. During this process Ethernet will have to face new types of physical layers, new UNITE multiservice nodes, and carry data over longer distances. Central Unit Furthermore, Ethernet will be required to support MPLS, RPR and real- time applications such as VoIP and multimedia. This is a big challenge Gigabit for Ethernet which was designed as a best effort technology - what this means Ethernet Test Module is that there is no commitment in terms of bandwidth, latency or performance. From the customer's position, in order for Ethernet to provide telecom-like Aurora Tango quality, it is necessary to have an SLA to guarantee the service. modularity Installation and Commissioning Aurora Tango Gigabit Ethernet ensures a quick setup and debug process for Quick and efficient tests Ethernet installation up to 1 Gigabit/s. It has the prime objectives of: SLA set up and verification 1. Assisting and debugging physical layer installation (copper or fiber), using Link-to-link and end-to-end analysis the optical power meter, through continuity test, traffic generation and Auto tests receive statistics data. PDA provides an advanced, user- friendly touchscreen interface 2. Verifying the Ethernet and IP layers using RFC 2544, IP Ping and trace route and VLAN verification 3. SLA certification, including traffic load, bandwidth, service integrity (so that no traffic is lost during normal service conditions) and latency. Maintenance Once the Gigabit Ethernet network is deployed, and poor performance issues arise, the technician will be required to maintain the service. To find the causes of low performance the following tests can be used: throughput, link utilization and MAC errored frames to produce accurate statistics. If the cause is not in the datalink layer the technician can also test the IP and upper layers by means of packet analysis such as UDP, TCP and ICMP. Filtering the traffic to a protocol analysis application, such as Trend Observer, may help to isolate the problem. ✔End-to-end Upper Layers If there is no traffic at all, the IP Ping can be used to find bad routing test configurations, and the Trace Route to trace network paths. ✔Analysis TCP/UPD Layer Reconciliation ✔Media- independent✔Connectivity IP Layer MII ✔Encapsulation Logical Link Control (LLC) PCS ✔Link-to-link PMA Media Access Control (MAC) test ✔Media- Auto-negotiation Physical Layer (PHY) ✔dependent Media specific MDI Physical Media ✔ 10, 100, 1000 Mbit/s All the Test Applications for Installation and SLA Maintenance Copper/Fiber Installation Aurora Tango provides field support for cable or fiber installations. If the physical layer is electrical, it can measure Customers the cable length, check pair or polarity swap and perform a BERT as well. If the physical layer is fiber, Aurora Tango VLAN can execute a continuity check, BERT Gigabit and measure optical power to verify Ethernet CNT the connection to the laser source. Service Provider SLA SLA setup and certification Capture and Simultaneous traffic generation and analysis Decoding Programmable filters for frame Aurora Tango provides up to two and packet capture bi-directional ports for viewing complete Physical, MAC, IP and upper protocol activity - including Ethernet layer analysis layer performance statistics such as Cable and fiber testing packet count by size and packet errors. Capture filter and packet export Traffic filtering by address enables testing problems to be isolated and also RFC 2544 and 2819 compliant saves time and resources. Traffic trace DNS/DHCP for correct login to server. IP Ping / Trace Route to confirm router/destination connection. Traffic Generation Aurora Tango is able to generate wirespeed traffic to emulate traffic conditions in order to stress network links and nodes. IP The traffic parameters can be programmed including patterns, Loopback address and formats at MAC/IP layers. Port B Port A Bit Error Rate Testing at line rate can Generation / Analysis be run at physical or IP layers. Errors and alarms can be inserted to verify that the far-end point is responding correctly and the layer is properly managed. GO TO SOURCE
When I can't find an obsolete part, I first call GID and they'll come up with my parts every time. Great customer service and follow up as well. Scott emails me from time to time to touch base and see if we're having trouble finding something.....which is often with our 25 yr old equipment.
