BEPCI-12 Backplane Quick Reference Card TEXAS This card provides a quick reference for the Texas Micro BEPCI-12 EISA/PCI backplane. The BEPCI-12 features eight (8) ISA/EISA-selectable slots, a shared CPU slot, and three (3) PCI slots for exceptional system expansion capability and easy card installation and maintenance. Connector pinouts are provided either in tables or on the backplane illustrations. MICRO THE PCI LOCAL BUS The PCI Local Bus is a high-performance, 32-bit bus with multi- plexed address and data lines. It is intended for use as an inter- connect mechanism between highly-integrated peripheral controller components, peripheral add-in boards, and proces- sor/memory systems. The processor/cache/memory subsystem is connected to PCI through a “PCI Bridge.” This bridge pro- vides a low-latency path through which the processor may directly access PCI devices mapped anywhere in the memory or I/O address spaces. It also provides a high-bandwidth path, allowing PCI masters direct access to main memory. THE EISA BUS The EISA (Extended Industry Standard Architecture) Bus pro- vides fast data transfers and multiprocessing support. With the CPU slot occupied, the remaining expansion slots are available for EISA or ISA expansion card support. The number of slots that support EISA bus master cards depend on the capabilities of the CPU card. The Texas Micro PE5000HX supports eight EISA slots (all bus master) on the BEPCI-12 backplane. JUMPERS JP1 - JP8 These jumpers are used to set the first eight (8) slots for ISA or EISA compatibility. Jumper Pin 1 to Pin 2 for EISA configuration (default). Jumpering Pin 2 to Pin 3 sets these slots for ISA configuration.
