® S ONEPLEX B ROADBAND S YSTEM The Soneplex Broadband system is an efficient, cost- effective solution for T1-based service delivery. It supports DS3 or STS-1 network interfaces and up to 28 DS1 loop transport modules. Integrated network management lets carriers save on overall operations costs through the entire system lifecycle. ADC’s Soneplex system is the lowest total cost solution for carriers to grow their T1-based business services. Focused on providing flexible, end-to-end solutions, the Soneplex system saves carriers money on T1-based services over copper or fiber, using HDSL, HDSL2, traditional T1 repeater or optical DS2 technology, in a single platform. From operations, maintenance, provisioning and high-speed backbone connections to central office space and cabling, the Soneplex system is designed to take costs out of today’s T1 delivery approach, adding profit to your bottom line. FEATURES • Cost-effective DS3 or STS-1 network connection • Delivers T1's over HDSL, HDSL2, T1 repeater, and optical DS2 • Supports TL1/X.25, TCP/IP, TBOS and SNMP protocols for flexible alarm management and per-circuit visibility and provisioning • Full carrier-class functionality and hardened design • NEBS certified; completed the OSMINE process The Soneplex System from ADC. The T1/E1 Service Delivery Experts ® Soneplex Broadband System The Soneplex Broadband system is a flexible platform for the delivery of T1-based Description services. It is ideal for a variety of DS1 distribution applications including point-to- multipoint hubs, outside plant applications, building or campus service distribution, and cellular transport-site feeds. The Soneplex Broadband system accepts either a DS3 or STS-1 electrical SONET network interface – from a SONET multiplexer, digital cross- connect system (DCS) or other network device – and distributes up to 28 DS1 signals over copper or fiber facilities. The Soneplex Broadband system provides a protected network interface to a DS3 signal using two redundant DS3 Multiplexer (MUX) modules or a protected interface to a SONET STS-1 signal with two redundant Electrical Carrier-1 modules (EC1M) and two redundant Virtual Tributary Mapper modules (VTMM). One slot in the high-speed section of the system is reserved for an optional Test Access Unit (TAU) or Remote Test Access Unit (RTAU). Each system is also equipped with a Main Processor Unit (MPU) or Shelf Controller Unit (SCU) and an Alarm Processor Unit (APU) for network manage- ment of T1 services. Low- Soneplex Broadband speed DS1 modules can be mixed to accommodate existing facilities. The management Chassis and maintenance section consists of an MPU or SCU and APU, and supports telemetry byte oriented serial (TBOS), transaction language 1 (TL1) and simplified network management protocol (SNMP) for remote connection to an operations support system (OSS). It also provides a menu-driven craft interface, alarm contact closures, house- keeping alarms, and an integrated X.25 PAD (packet assembler/disassembler).
