ARCNET LAN expansion card The 5560 is a controller for interconnecting processors and intelligent controllers using the ARCNET Local Area Network. Integrated into the card is a 2K, dual–ported RAM buffer allowing zero wait state operation in a PC system. The 5560 supports both coax and twisted inter- connections. It is compatible with all standard ARCNET software. The ARCNET LAN is a token–passing network that oper- ates at a 2.5 Mbps data rate. This network protocol pro- vides predictable response times, since each network event occurs within a known time interval. Throughput is reliably predetermined based on the number of nodes Features and the expected traffic. LAN INTERFACES: � Coax or twisted pair There is a LED access indicator that flashes briefly when the card is read or written to. This feature is useful for TOPOLOGIES: troubleshooting.
