Description
The M46 is based on the M-Module ANSI mezzanine standard. It can be used as an I/O extension in any type of bus system, i.e. CPCI, PXI, VME or on any type of stand-alone SBC. Appropriate M-Module carrier cards in 3U, 6U and other formats are available from MEN or other manufacturers.
The M46 features an MC68302 multiprotocol processor. The M-Module is especially suited for communication in flexible data processing applications, for all common industrial interfaces, for modem-like applications and data collection systems as well as bridges and gateways in networks. The three intelligent serial channels are supported by a RISC and a DMA controller. 9 control lines per channel incl. clocks allow control of external devices such as modems or testing equipment. Interprocessor communication is done with two independent 2-KB FIFOs. The M46 does not need any plug-on PCBs and has more handshake lines than M17.
