Total Control Products - Greyline 4161 LED Panel Display | Home | Products | Text-Based OI | Greyline | Greyline 4161 | Model 4161 BCD to 7 Segment Panel Display Product Description Compatible with all programmable 5 or 24 VDC models controllers Optional NEMA 4 and NEMA 12 panel All or individual strobes for multiplex sealing operation 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 digit models Switch selectable logic and strobe signal inputs Model 4161 Binary Coded Decimal to 7 Segment Panel Mounted Display is an instrument which converts the BCD information from the DC output module of a programmable controller into a 7 segment digital display. Two basic models are available: either 5 or 24 volt power and logic. These models can be ordered with 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 digits. Switches mounted on the printed circuit board allow programming of the display to work with most programmable controllers. These programming switches allow the selection of 0 or 1 true data level, 0 or 1 true strobe input level and strobing of all or individual digits. The decimal point position is selected at the rear connector and can be latched with the decimal point strobe connection. A lamp test can be performed by applying a logic 0 to the lamp test input. Digits can be blanked by inputing a non-BCD bit pattern greater than nine. Standard 2, 3, 4 and 6 digit models have .43” high digits. Optional .8” high digits are available for the 2, 3 or 4 digit models. Digits are red with a red lens cover. http://www.gefanuc.com/totalcontrol/products/text-based_oi/greyline/greyline_4161.html (1 of 3) [9/26/2000 9:06:13 AM] Courtesy of Steven Engineering, Inc. 230 Ryan Way, South San Francisco, CA, 94080-6370 Main Office: (650) 588-9200 Outside Local Area: (800) 258-9200 www.stevenengineering.com Total Control Products - Greyline 4161 LED Panel Display The unit is housed in a rugged extruded aluminum case with a black front bezel. The case is 1-11/16” high, 3-5/8” wide and 4-1/2” deep. The panel cutout can be made by a standard 45mm x 92mm DIN punch. 2 to 4 digit models are supplied with a 30 pin solder tail connector; 6 and 8 digit models have two 30 pin solder tail connectors. Optional screw terminal or ribbon cable adapters may be used for rear panel connections. These adapters replace the 30 pin solder tail connectors and must be ordered separately. Solderless Field Connection Adapters Total Control Products has developed adapters that provide significant time savings in the installation of Total Control’s peripheral equipment with programmable controllers. Unlike the time-consuming method of soldering wires to the device’s mating connectors, connections are made using either ribbon cable connections or screw terminal connections at the terminal strip. These adapters can be used to replace the solder tail connectors supplied with the displays. Product Operation 4161 Programming There are two basic models of the 4161 BCD to 7 Segment Panel Display: 5 and 24 volt. The 24 volt model has the same basic circuit as the 5 volt, with the addition of a regulator circuit. Data level, strobe level and digits strobed are programmed on the printed circuit board with slide switches. Data Level Both data slide switches must be set at the same level. For 0 true logic, both slide switches are in the down position; for 1 true logic, both slide switches are in the up position. Strobe Level For multiplex operation, both strobe slide switches must be set at the same level. For 0 true strobe logic, both slide switches are in the down position. For 1 true strobe logic, both slide switches are in the up position and, for non-multiplex operation, both slide switches are set in opposite positions. For instance: one slide switch down (0) and one slide switch up (1). Digits Strobed Three slide switches (common strobes) allow all or individual digits to be strobed. With the three switches up, a signal to any strobe input will strobe all digits. With the three switches down, a strobe signal is required for each individual digit.
